The spa was really lovely- far larger than in any other hotel I've stayed in, and you could use it after you had checked out as well. Dinner in the hotel's Indian restaurant Saffrons was excellent as well.
Our room was pretty basic (907), and had no luxury 'extras' I would've expected from a 4 star hotel (so bring slippers/ flip flops for walking to the spa). Hospitality tray in room was just basic tea and coffee, no herbal teas/ water etc. We recently stayed in a Premier Inn, and I can honestly say that the room there was plusher and better equipped than Hotel de France (although I believe that the older 'balcony rooms' here are really nice, we were in a modern extension). Breakfast was adequate, but nothing special- frozen berries, pre-cooked English breakfast, plain white sliced bread (although fancy breads and pastries were mentioned, they were never out when we breakfasted). For a family holiday/ quick business trip it's fine, but don't expect too much from the rooms/ breakfast and make sure you visit the spa
The hotel is beautiful, the service was very good, staff friendly and helpful. The swimming pool thought small was very good - not overly chlorinated. There was even a hairdressers and beauticians. For me, the highlight was the Spa - it was excellent.
Before we booked this hotel, I did some research on what other people thought of staying there. The review were good to excellent, but the quality of the toilet paper was questioned. I viewed this as a very minor complaint until I got to the hotel. I know it sounds a bit pathetic, but with the high standards attired to throughout the rest of the hotel, why did they skimp on buying a good quality toilet paper?
Nice pool area with 4 different pools.
Poor quality of food starting with breakfast. The hotel is located far away from the centre.
Staff vere good. Food well presented. Leisure very good.
Very disapointed to find a building in front of hotel, spoilt layout totally. Rooms exceptionally small for a hotel of this size . Breakfast choices inadequate.no tea or coffee choices. Parking !!! Was an issue, no where near enough.
Great pools and nice bars
The hotel building is beautifull, with a super staircase. I am told that the leisure center is very good, as a non swimmer I did not use this facility my self. The staff are very friendly and helpfull.
My main issue was with the public transport to the hotel. My stay was over the Bank Holiday week-end and I found the service rather poor. The hotel bus service was a bit restricted, but the drivers are nice. The other issue for me was that evening meals did not include vegetables, salads or french fries.
We liked the varied menus and restaurants, pool facilitites and good choice of food for breakfast. Also staff amenability. As there were a few functions that evening, we were given the choice of a quiet room or a room with a view when checking in.
Large and friendly which would not normaly be linked together. The high quality of the food at The Saffron restaurant gave those looking for a quiet evening, without the hustle and bustlle of a large family hotel, a relaxing envir.onment following a busy day exploring Jersey or using the super pool/spa. Room was well insulated from inside noise
TV too small - old eyes had a problem with definition.
great leisure facilities, helpful and friendly staff,a lovely restaurant [ saffrons ] with fantastic surroundings and amazing food,a very cosy and warm welcoming hotel
The staff were very helpful.
The standard rooms are very poor, very we upgraded for an extra £50 and this room was of a better standard. (maybe 3+ star) I would never stay in a standard room as this was of no more than 2 star standard
Reliable comfort and service - good breakfast
The facilities there are excelent, staff are friendly, efficient and helpful.
Restuarant is expensive and bar closes at midnight.
A lovely hotel with excellent facilities and spotlessly clean.
Spacios, efficient, high standards met, excellent breakfast bar, the swimming pool and facilities were best ever, beds ok but mattress could be of better quality/comfort
Quality of matress in bedroom needs to be upgraded to higher standard at this 4star hotel I.E. The Raddison St Hellier has much better beds!
Our first impression upon entering the reception area was a strong smell of cigarette smoke. I commented on this to the receptionist and he said it came in through the doors from outside. Having had to walk past a group of smokers stood immediately by the front door was very off putting. The smell of smoke was also in the upstair corridors so it seems that guests are not refraining from smoking in their rooms either. This, all to a non smoker, is really disgusting and I feel something should be done to keep smokers away from the front door at least.
